Warren, Texas is located in Tyler County, 12 miles south of Woodville and about 90 miles north of the Texas Gulf Coast. The community began as a lumber mill town in 1883, the same year the Texas & New Orleans Railroad arrived in Tyler County. The Warren community organized a one-teacher school in 1881. Presently, Warren Independent School District has grown to approximately 100 teachers and 1,200 students across four campuses.
