Currie

The Warren Independent School District is thrilled to announce that Mr. Currie, long-time Agriculture teacher and FFA advisor, has received the Honorary American Degree—the highest honors awarded by the National FFA Organization to an educator. This prestigious award is given to individuals who demonstrate exceptional support for FFA and agricultural education, and Mr. Currie’s contributions to the field have undoubtedly earned him this recognition.

Since becoming a Warren FFA advisor and agricultural science teacher on July 1, 1975, Mr. Currie has not only taught the principles of agriculture but has also been a mentor and role model, leaving a lasting impact on generations of students. For five decades, his dedication has been evident both inside and outside the classroom. He has gone far beyond his teaching duties, spending countless hours mentoring students through livestock projects, training leadership and career development event teams, preparing students for State and National FFA events, and fostering student development into well-rounded leaders.

Mr. Currie’s influence has been foundational in shaping Warren FFA’s legacy of excellence. Many of his former students have gone on to careers and leadership roles within the agricultural industry. From dozens of students becoming agricultural science teachers themselves to others advocating for rural communities and joining trades within the agriculture sector, Mr. Currie’s mentorship has left a lasting impact. His unwavering commitment to values such as hard work, leadership, and community engagement has created a ripple effect that will continue to benefit Warren for years to come.

“Mr. Currie’s dedication to his students and his community is truly inspiring,” said a representative of the district. “We’re incredibly proud to celebrate this milestone with him and look forward to seeing the continued impact of his legacy.”

Mr. Currie’s Honorary American Degree is a fitting tribute to a career marked by unwavering commitment to his students, his community, and the future of agriculture. Congratulations, Mr. Currie, on this well-deserved honor, and thank you for your outstanding service to Warren FFA.
